Structured Learning Experiences

Supported Employment is just one facet of our transitional program at SEARCH Day Program. The goal of the program is to provide job opportunities in the community for our learners with the necessary level of assistance from trained on-site staff. Our staff assist each student to complete job requirements while giving them the opportunity to be successful participants in the workforce.

When determining potential career paths for our SLE participants, we consider a variety of factors that will improve the participant’s success in his/her job. There is an emphasis on the identification of strengths and interests by collaborating with the individual, families, employers, school district personnel and the Division of Developmental Disabilities.

Interest and vocational assessments are also conducted to assist SEARCH Day Program staff in determining potential types of employment. Once the participant’s assessments have been reviewed, the SLE Coordinator identifies potential employment for the individual and the application process is completed with the employer.
